Do I need a permit ?
Not all towns or sheds need a permit and we do not require one, that being said you should check with your local building department to see what the requirements are for your project. American Buildings does not secure permits.
Site prep?
Site preparations are the homeowners responsibility. Your site should be leveled to within 6" for your new shed to be "built on site" and should be exactly level for a pre-built shed to be delivered. American Buildings will level up to 6" for free with customer supplied concrete blocks for any "built on site" shed. Additional leveling will result in an added charge. We do not level or prepare your pad site for a fully built shed delivery. Make sure you have double checked that your pad site is level.
How long will it take to get my shed?
Normally your shed will be built in one day, larger sheds may take two days. And normally it takes 2-4 weeks from when you order your shed to when it will be ready for construction and built.
How and when do I pay for my shed?
Your deposit of 35% is paid when you order and can be in cash with a 1% discount or by credit card through PayPal for an additional fee of 3.5%. Then when we start assembling your shed kit in our facility we will contact you to pay your next installment of 35% which is non refundable. Your balance of 30% will be due upon completion when we are at your home and your job is complete.
Do I need to be home when my shed arrives?
Yes, someone will have to be home when we arrive and show us where the shed is going and to pay the balance due. If your building is being "built on site" you can leave after we arrive and return when the builder say's he will be complete and to pay the balance due.
Can I choose the door and window locations?
Yes, you sure can. The only model that you can not is on a barn style with a 4' sidewall.
How are shipping charges calculated?
Shipping is mileage based off the size and style building plus the shipping permits necessary. The first 20 miles are free. An average sized shed ships at $4.25 per mile after the first 20 miles which is free.

Can you do better on the price? What if I pay in cash?
We are always working to keep our prices as low as possible and stay competitive. That being said, when we quote you a price it is usually our best price whether you are paying in cash or by any other method. We do give a 1% discount for cash, and will work to match or beat any competitors price for a comparable building.
How wide of an opening do I need to get a fully assembled shed into my yard?
For a fully assembled shed or garage to be put in your yard our delivery team will need at least 2' above and around the building. (ex. a 10'x12'x 10' building needs a clear path above and from side to side of 12').
I only have a 3' gate opening , what are my options?
You can still have a shed put in your yard, but you will have to have it "built on site".
